Orange Juice and Toothpaste

So one of the background projects I have going at work is looking for interesting tips, facts, and articles about topics relevant to college health so they can be posted to our twitter and facebook feeds. Today I came accross an interesting article about - you guessed it - toothpast and orange juice.

It turns out there's a reason it tastes so badly. This article states the leading theory is the foaming action of toothpaste actually supresses your mout's ability to taste sweet things. Another scientist suggests it has to do with the chemical reaction between the sudsy paste and the citric acid.

Side note: the article also says it takes about an hour for the effects of the foaming toothpaste to wear off enough to taste sweet things. Very interesting.
