I am Impatient

Yes, for those of you who don't already know, I am extremely impatient. I have gotten better recently with the help of great anxiety meds. However, some things still get to me.

Especially when it comes to the future. I am a big time planner. And I already know where our lives will be heading. And I'm ready for it all now. Well actually I was ready for it all yesterday. Meh.

Impatience is a virtue of mine.

Ready for Fall

I am so ready for it to get colder. I'm ready for fall clothes and delicious pumpkin/apple recipes and the decorations. I love the fall and I want it to get here ASAP! It's only second to Christmas time in my book.

Hopefully with this wetter end to the summer, it means we're in store for a cooler winter. Is it too early to bring out my fall/winter clothes? I know I can't wear them yet but I just love my boots, sweaters, jackets, etc.

Bring on the fall!

Getting Our Act Together (Sort Of)

We are going to try to live independently and successfully on our own.

What's that you say? We're married and living alone, so that means we're already on our own, right? Well yes. But the key word is successfully. We have been living well and doing great things, but now it's time for more independence and doing a better job with all aspects of our life together.

For instance, we have started the process of being on our own insurance together. Under new laws, we've been maintaining our insurance with our respective families. While this makes economical sense, it doesn't make us feel as independent and on our own. Plus, for the future, it will make family planning difficult and even more overwhelming if we're having to deal with an added cost of insurance to our monthly bill. We looked at our budget and decided to kick ourselves out of the medical nests of our parents. That's a pretty big step, if you ask me.

Speaking of budget, we are going to do a better job of living frugally. Lately, with the added cost of the house, decorating said house, and Phillip getting a slight boost in pay, we have been living life a little more luxuriously from time-to-time. We are going to stop that. Our expenses and income are finally becoming a little more certain, so our budget will as well. We are going to be better about eating cheaper at home (I will get more creative with ingredients we already have instead of finding these elaborate recipes that need 3 different random expensive spices and 2 different weird oils).

I want to eat healthier too. We need to take this opportunity to eat cleaner and healthier. Plus, we need to get out and walk too. The weather is getting nicer and with all of this west nile spraying, I'm sure our neighborhood is safer too. So we need to get out and eat better. This is another huge goal of mine.

Work and cleaning and laundry have also improved since we've moved - but can always be improved more. I'm getting better but the house could always be cleaner, the laundry could always be done faster, and work could always be more successful. These are constant improvements I strive for.

So what do you think? Can we do it? Can we get our act together?

It's Ok (Credit to: Natalie Owen!)

I'm stealing this from her because it is such a good idea. She does these from time-to-time and today I'm in the mood to to do the same.

It's Ok....

... that I don't always get dressed before noon when working from home.

... that I don't always get dressed at all when working from home.

... to take a bubble bath every night.

... to love spending so much time with my husband, and to still get giddy when he's on his way home from work each evening.

... that we go from having a surplus of money to spend on luxurious things to having hardly any to spend on groceries. After all, we are relatively newly weds still figuring out how to stick to a budget when we have impulses to buy things.

... to leave the dog outside all day when the high temperature is 77 degrees.

... that I currently have an obsession with crime dramas streaming on Netflix.

... to be in bed by 10:00 every night.

... that I only had macaroni and cheese for dinner last night.

... to constantly want more out of life. It makes things interesting and keeps dreams alive.

Busy August Thus Far

It has been a very busy 11 days since I last blogged. So many things have been going on. I apologize for the neglect. But really, we've been swamped.

I had a huge screening, a trip to La Vernia (yes, after the previous one before my last entry), a trip to Houston, numerous house chores/projects, and a get-together with friends. Doesn't that just sound busy? I'm exhausted.

But our house has never been cleaner. ;)

This week things slow down a bit and I am thankful for that.

Yard Work

We started yard work this past weekend. This is a first for us.

We bought a lawn mower. Phillip assembled it. And then he mowed the front and back.

He also started laying the pavers in the back yard for our grill to go on.

I power washed the front entry and the garage. That was exhausting.

I also got plants for our planters in the back and cleared off the back patio.

It was hot outside so we didn't finish everything. And this weekend we're heading to La Vernia with the Galloways. So it'll have to wait for next weekend with everything else on our to-do list.
