Exhausted on the Eve of Surgery

I am already exhausted. This week has already been one for the record books. Phew. Just thinking about it. And I haven't even had my surgery yet. Wow.

Phillip and I have been up at the hospital since yesterday morning with his dad. Don't worry bloggers, everything is good. But we had a scare after a routine procedure that has him in the hospital through at least Saturday. So we've been up here for almost 2 full days. Didn't spend the night. But between errands run for the family and going home to sleep last night, we've been hunkered down in the private room.

Today I went to pre-op for my surgery that's tomorrow afternoon. Originally my pre-op was scheduled for yesterday. However, yesterday's events forced me to reschedule for today. Everything seems pretty straight forward. I have some pre-op stuff to do, on top of finishing up cleaning and laundry. But I should be ready to go. I head in tomorrow at 12:15. Poor Phillip will have to spend another day waiting in the hospital. Then Friday, his dad has another procedure so he'll go back up to this hospital. Crazy.

I haven't worked at all this week, except for Monday. I've been fielding emails and other communications. But other than that, I haven't been able to do as much as I had planned. I'm thankful to have an incredible boss who understands and is completely ok with me taking the time I need in order to come back full-force next week.

Heather and Kevin are coming in town this weekend. Exciting. They'll stay with us to help out with me when Phillip goes up to the hospital for his dad, and to help with Murphy when Phillip is taking care of me.

What an exhausting week already, no? And it's just going to be more of a marathon. I'm getting nervous about my surgery too....

Gallbladder Woes

One week from today, I will be without my gallbladder. Yes, readers, surgery awaits. I will go in at noon for a laparoscopic cholecystectomy that will begin at 1:45. Who knows when I will be released.

I honestly don't know what the recovery process will be like. All the info I've read has basically said I'll be sub-par for 5-10 days. But no one says why. If there is continued pain, no one says where or to what extent. Maybe they'll give me so much pain meds I won't be able to drive? It bugs me that I don't know what to expect. I'm sure they'll tell me at pre-op on Tuesday.

I will miss work for half of Thursday and Friday. That's my plan at least. I won't schedule any meetings for the following week yet. We'll see how it goes. Hubby will be taking care of me. I plan on staying at the apartment that weekend. But if I can't make it up our stairs, we'll be staying with the "big Longs".

Married Valentines Day

First one as a married couple. Can you believe it!? Seems like we've been together forever and this is one of many we've spent together. But we're still going to make it special.

Tonight we're cooking a three course fondue meal together. Gourmet cheese with bread. Marinated steak, chicken, and salmon. Gourmet chocolate with strawberries, cake, and marshmallows. We've also been saving a bottle of wine since thanksgiving so we'll open that too. Doesn't it sound romantic?

What doesn't sound romantic is my gift to Phillip. Call me crazy but I got him a really awesome, but nowhere close to romantic, gift. He's more practical than lovey dovey so I got him something he'll love more than a box of chocolates.

I bought him a bleacher bench from the Texas rangers!! They remodeled last year and took out some seats. So I bought them! Way cool! It'll go great with the old cowboys stadium seat his parents got him for graduation. It's his new collectors item goal. He is going to love it when we pick it up. He already knows he's getting it but it'll still be fun to finally see it. I'm excited!!

Today I'm celebrating valentines day with no work. Not by choice but out of necessity. I am about to have an appointment with a gallbladder surgeon to see if it's going to come out or not (I've had pain and tests run for a month now). And this afternoon I have an appointment with my gastroenterologist to discuss everything. I'm borderline for whether or not it should come out so I have a feeling I'll have to decide. It'll be nice to have other opinions. I only want surgery if it'll make me feel better. I'll let you know how it goes.

FC Dallas Wife

That's right, bloggers, I'm officially an FC Dallas wife!! How great!!!

Phillip was offerred (and accepted) a position as the assistant equipment manager for the team. Isn't that a neat foot in the door? This could open so many new opportunities for us. It's perfect for him and I think he's pretty excited. One step closer to his dream job in his dream field. And soccer, nonetheless.

I could definitely rock this whole soccer wife thing. I just need some more fan gear. I mean. I don't even have a shirt!

In other news, I have been swamped with many (great) meetings with districts up here. It seems to be surpassing everyone's expectations and I can only hope it keeps getting busier. I would love to really excel at this position and become a true asset to the organization. It makes me feel like I am making a difference and contributing to the world. I know it's sappy but I like making a difference.
