Not Much To Say

There hasn’t really been anything going on here recently, since the last post. I’ve had two tests, and have three more to study for. I should be more worried about them, but for some reason, I’m calm, cool, and collected.

This weekend the plan is to go to Galveston for a daycation with a couple of friends. I’m excited to go to the beach and soak up the sun. It’ll be pretty relaxing and give me a much needed break from the real world – as if I haven’t had enough of those recently.

I started Phillip and I’s scrapbook today. It’s going to be about wedding planning and stuff like that. It starts with Phillip proposing and goes from there into engagement party stuff, touring the ballpark, and will extend to much more eventually. I needed a place to put all of the knick-knacks and miscellaneous pictures that won’t go into our photo album. I hope it turns out great!

So Loved

This weekend was better than I could have even imagined. Heather did such a great job and I’m so glad so many people were able to come. The weather was perfect too.

The best way I can describe the engagement party is when I say that I feel so loved right now. The toasts were my favorite part. I felt so much love and support from so many people. Not to mention, I was there with the love of my life who always makes me the happiest girl in the whole wide world.

We got some really neat gifts and cards too – though they certainly weren’t expected at all. We got a bottle of wine (always a good idea), a pretty picture frame (already looking for the best picture from this weekend to put in it), a gas card (so thoughtful), a gorgeous wine stopper (I mean GORGEOUS), and a box of hersheys hugs and kisses (super cute).

I love all of my family and all of my friends dearly. For those of you that came, thank you, and to those of you who couldn’t, I thank you too for supporting us 120%.

Going Home Early

Well it looks like I don’t have to hang around here until 6:00 anymore, so I’m heading home after I teach my weekly class. I’ll be northbound as of about 12:45 or 1:00 today. Then it’s hair appointment, grocery shopping, and hanging out with the family. Yay!

Going Home Tomorrow!

Tomorrow at 6:00pm I am leaving College Station to travel home for a very exciting weekend (that you’ve been hearing about for quite some time now). I wish I were going home tonight so I can participate in all of the fun final touches. But, tomorrow night it is.

Strawberry Champagne Punch. That’s what I’m making for the party. I’ve decided I’m going to attempt a strawberry-filled ice mold too. We’ll see how that turns out. I’m also going to make mini salads in baked parmesan cheese cups. It sounds more complicated than it actually will be.

I can’t wait to see everyone and just relax. I haven’t been able to spend time with everyone together in one place with nothing to do in a very long time. All I have left to do now is begin assembling some sort of thank-you speech for Phillip and I to give at the party. For those of you reading this that will be there Saturday, don’t make fun. Speeches aren’t exactly my forte.

Poaching Contest

I got some new contraptions that are supposed to poach eggs quickly and thoroughly without the hassle or mess of typical poaching. Phillip decided that this wouldn’t do and that the normal way was going to be better. So I challenged him to a contest on Sunday…

Results: both sets of eggs tasted the exact same. The only difference was presentation. Therefore, I won by default. :-P

This Next Saturday!

I’m so excited for next weekend! I mean, I’ve been excited for a while, but it all of a sudden hit me that I’m going to have my best friends and closest family members all together in one place! It’ll be the first time the whole wedding party is together and it’ll actually feel like I’m starting the wedding planning process. Yay!!!

Heather has done such a great job in planning this. I couldn’t have asked for a better hostess. Special thank-yous to our families for their support and Cameron Ross and his family for providing us with a beautiful location. This reminds me, I need to start working on a thank-you speech with Phillip for the party… And remind my dad he has to give an opening toast… I must get on that.

I’m really glad I don’t have anything pressing to do this week, because I would be pretty distracted to say the least. I’m still trying to get ahead a little in my studies (especially in Anatomy) but nothing is going to be too demanding. That’s good because I don’t think my excitement could stand having to be toned down a few notches.

I can’t wait!!

Worst Day Ever

Today was by far one of the worst days I’ve ever had. Everything that could have gone wrong pretty much did.Where to start…

This morning I woke up a little early to once again attempt to register for classes at TCC for the summer (specifically the second semester of English I just recently found out I needed to have completed before September in order to apply to the nursing school for January). But alas, I had no suck luck. Last night when registration opened at midnight, I tried and didn’t succeed. Phillip had decided he would try for me at some point during the night so I could sleep. That didn’t work either. Today I tried constantly all day long and couldn’t even get to the login screen until this evening. When I finally got to register, they blocked be for a formality based on them not having a recent transcript. Therefore, now I must wait at least three mailing days before I can register – which means the class I want will most likely be filled by then.

In walking class, we had our final test worth ten points of our grade. Now, I am terrible at aerobic walking (second worst in the class) so today was torture. I had done a pre-test a few weeks ago and received five out of ten for my time. Today was a chance to improve our scores. Yeah. I did two minutes worse on my time. Did I mention I’m terrible at aerobic walking?

I had that job interview yesterday at 3:00. I thought it went okay. They did ask if I had experience with Photoshop or Publisher – to which I had to admit that I didn’t. They then told me I was the last they had to interview and that they’d call today to let me know if I was hired. No phone call today. No news is bad news in this case.

Tomorrow is Ring Day in Aggieland. I’m still pretty hurt that I’m not getting mine when so many of my friends are getting theirs. I’m so jealous.

When it comes to tests, I haven’t had much luck today either. I studied for a very long time for my Anatomy test I took last night and thought I did pretty well. When grades were posted today, it turns out I need horribly. And I have a test tomorrow morning that I’ve had to study for while Phillip is here (I’d rather hang out with him than study…. but I have been studying!!).

Besides all of that, some minor things occurred throughout the day too – but I won’t bore you with those details. Just know that I had a pretty bad day and I’m glad that it’s over. Now I’m going to watch some tv and go to sleep. This weekend I’ll spend some time with my love and next week I’ll have the whole week to get a head start on studying for my last exams and relax a bit. Good night!!

Amidst Chaos

This month has already proven to be the busiest of 2010. This past weekend I had Relay for Life this past Friday night. I had to leave that early to get some sleep before Chilifest Saturday with Heather and some of her friends. This morning I had a test, Wednesday night I have a test, and Friday morning I also have a test. This week I also have a lot of homework and two online quizzes to do. What a busy week!

To add to all of this, I now no longer have a mentor partner to assist me in leading weekly discussions with my group of freshmen I mentor. I can definitely handle it for these last few weeks, but the sudden nature of it added a little stress for a bit.

This weekend Phillip is coming in town (YAYAYAYAYAY!!!) and then we’re heading to Austin for the day for Shauna’s 21st birthday dinner. We’ll get to see a lot of our friends too, so it’ll be a whole lot of fun.

Next weekend is the engagement party. I bought the perfect dress, and I’m ready to see all of my family and have them meet all of Phillip’s family. I just know they’re all going to love each other! Heather is getting in town next Thursday night, and Friday she and my mom and grandmother are going out to the lakehouse to set-up lights and others things that can withstand any possible weather issues. Next Friday Tabitha and I are heading north where we will help Heather tie up any loose ends and get ready for Saturday. Saturday is when all of the fun begins! Hopefully a hair appointment early in the morning, followed by a pedicure with the lovely ladies of my family, and then going to the lakehouse to finish cooking, set up tables and chairs, and finish up getting ready. I’m so excited!!! I can’t wait to see everyone and celebrate the start of a very fun time in my life!

One More Month!

That’s right, there is just one more month left in this semester. I will only get a short break before trekking through my tough summer class line-up but it’ll still be a nice break with absolutely no school work.

I have a lot to do over the next four weeks. I still have half a dozen tests to take and some final assignments. Not to mention, I need to wrap-up work and my organization stuff. Oh, and on top of all of that, I have the engagement party, chilifest, relay for life, Shauna’s birthday party in Austin, and a road trip to Galveston.

Why does is seem like April and May are always the busiest out of the whole year?
