Wedding Explosion Weekend

Memorial Day weekend is typically filled with BBQs, pool time, and relaxation. Well my weekend has been much different. It has been filled with wedding planning festivities. Luckily, though, we are almost done!

All that’s left to do is buy the candy and print/assemble the remaining paper items (program, menu cards, table numbers, seating chart). But that’s all! Next weekend will be perfect for honeymoon packing and cleaning. Then it’ll be smooth sailing for the rest of the wedding week. It will be nice to be able to relax and celebrate that week instead of running last minute errands or assembling programs.

Isn’t it great to see how a long engagement can make the week of the wedding less stressful? So glad I planned when everyone said we had plenty of time. So glad I didn’t listen to all that talk.

Another day of planning lies ahead, but it’s not crazy.

My World is Getting Crazy

The wedding is fast approaching – like at lightening speed. Every second of every day is filled with wedding talk and adding to my once short to-do list.

Seating chart is done. Program is drafted. Ceremony music is selected. Hand clappers are ready to go.

This weekend’s Agenda: meeting with the ballpark, meeting with the DJ, marriage license, assembling programs, and more.

I’m sorry this post is so scattered. My brain is kind of scattered too.

The LONG Apartment!! :)

As promised, here are pictures of our new home. Every day I walk into the front door, I remember how much I love this cute place. It has the perfect amount of space for us and things are beginning to find their new homes in all of the nooks and crannies. This place really looks like it was made for us.

The Kitchen! It’s smaller than my last place but still barely fits all of our things.

IMG_0300

The Office! It holds all of Phillip’s sports memorabilia, our books, a desk, and a futon for guests (like Heather when she comes in tomorrow)!

IMG_0301IMG_0302

The Guest Bathroom! This is the one all of you visitors will be seeing. Garden tubs in both bathrooms. This one is our monogrammed bathroom with monogrammed towels and a color scheme of shades of champagne.

IMG_0303

The Dining Room! Samantha gave us her wonderful table that fits perfectly in our dining nook with our new bar/buffet. Yes, that is a wall of mirrors on the back wall. This is the only thing I would change about the apartment. It’s only from the chair rail up. We are going to convince ourselves to embrace this detail.

IMG_0305IMG_0304

The Living Room! I love this space! We were worried about our furniture fitting in this arrangement but I actually think we couldn’t have had a better fit. I love the beautiful fireplace with cement sturdy mantle. We also have a three pane glass door that goes out onto our spacious balcony (pictures to come when we finish decorating it). I can already see our first Christmas here. We do need to purchase a chair and ottoman for each of the corners on the sides of the fireplace and some more artwork. This place is still a work in progress, you know!

IMG_0306IMG_0307

The Master Bathroom! Small picture, but it’s hard to take a picture of due to the angles. It looks pretty much exactly like the guest bathroom, with one door instead of two.IMG_0308

The Master Bedroom! This is really spacious for an apartment. We will eventually get a piece of furniture for the corner by the dresser and hang up tons more artwork. Again, work in progress.

Isn’t it just lovely!? I want all of you to come see it in person – especially once we get all of the finishing touches done. I can’t believe this is going to be our first home. We will remember this place forever and I know when it’s time to leave, we’ll be pretty sad.

Here’s to many great memories in our first home!

Real Talk

Today marks the three week point to the wedding. Um now do you see how fast this is flying by? Just yesterday it was 6 months ago, and now it’s time to get down to brass tacks – is that how the saying goes?

Yesterday I wrote down a list of things that still need to be done. I was surprised by how long it is, but relieved that most of it will be finished this week. Like for instance, next Friday, we are meeting with the ballpark and DJ, and getting our marriage license. Crazy right!?

I still need to find a gift for Phillip for the big day. And we need to finalize the ceremony order (like last week). After the ceremony order is complete, we can move right along and finish this thing by my hopeful deadline of June 1. We’ll see.

The Final Countdown

I can’t believe the wedding is a mere 3 1/2 weeks away. It’s crazy how fast that snuck up on us. There isn’t too much left to do. I mean, I have to finish up the programs, finalize our ceremony song selection for the string trio, and assign tables.

That doesn’t sound like too much work, does it? Well. Except for the fact that all I want to do recently is lay around and enjoy this wonderful apartment. Tonight is the first night I get to just relax without having to unpack a box, grocery shop, or bring another load from home. A bath is in store for me after I write this entry. I love the garden bath tub.

Heather comes in town on Sunday! :)

Moooooooooooving Update!

It has been almost a week since my last entry. Things are getting hectic, bloggers. I am so sorry for my neglect, but with moving in, there hasn’t been much of anything besides moving and unpacking boxes.

The new apartment looks great! I will post pictures as soon as we get the finishing touches completed. It is starting to feel like a home and I am so ready to live here with Phillip. I can’t wait for all of you to see it – whether via pictures on here or actually in person.

My second interview was today too! We’ll see what happens. It’s out of my hands now. I really want this job and that scares me. I’ll keep you posted. Will it be victory or heartbreak? Stay tuned.

Boot camp and grocery shopping tonight. Hopefully it’ll be early to bed after catching up on my millions of tv shows.

Can you believe we are under the one month mark!?

The End of an Era : Admitting Defeat

Alright, bloggers. It has come time to admit that I am defeated and will no longer continue with my 365 new years resolution project. Yes. I know. I’m going back on my word. I realized in the past few days that taking these pictures has really made my blog entries few and far between. Plus, the pictures aren’t really that interesting anyway.

So it’s back to traditional blogging without pictures. Well. I mean, without daily pictures. I am going to try to post pictures as often as interesting things warrant.

Tomorrow is one month until the wedding. How crazy is that! All of you that have followed my blog since day one – and some of you later followers since the day Phillip and I got engaged – are surely looking forward to a change in pace as blogs go. What on earth will I write about!? Perhaps back to the boring here-is-what-we-did-today posts? Hah. We’ll see.

Oh and I have a second job interview!! More details to come later but the interview will take place either Thursday or Friday!

RSVPs: accepts – 131; declines – 38 (MIA – 206; please please please get your RSVPs in… final counts to vendors are due soon!!)

WE GET THE KEYS TO THE APARTMENT ON FRIDAY!!!!

Short Quick Post

[Pictures will come another post.]

I came to College Station today. I left this morning shortly after my lunch and got here in time to relax a little before my interview. I think it went pretty well. I could find out as early as next week, but for sure by June 24. I really want this job because it sounds like a great opportunity – but I wouldn’t be crazy about leaving Phillip for five weeks. So I’m fairly neutral at this point.

Tomorrow I’m off to Austin for a couple of hours before meeting up with my family to go visit Samantha in La Vernia. I am ready for a nice family weekend. Sunday we’ll be traveling back (with Samantha joining us for a week).

Our apartment move-in is one week from tomorrow. It’s crazy how fast the past three weeks have flown by. I blame it on the fact that I spend 40 hours a week working now and go to bed super early every night.

Sorry for the random and fast post. I felt the need to update all of you. Please get those RSVP cards sent ASAP!!!

April Top Five

April was a steady month with nothing too crazy happening. There was a lot of wedding planning and things have really taken off. I think every post during the month referred to some sort of wedding detail. Here are the top five pictures:

Toasting flutes, wedding rings, a gorgeous bow bouquet for the rehearsal, and a great jersey for our ballpark reception guestbook. Here’s to a busy and great May. Last full month until we are finally married!

Bonus Pictures!

What a great weekend! It definitely deserves a bunch of extra pictures. It was filled with lots of shopping (I got paid!) and lots of time with Phillip. Here is a photo snap shot…

We got great things in the mail on Friday. Phillip’s wedding ring came in and we got some wedding gifts from the Gladstones and Jeanie and John in Maine!

Yesterday we went shopping for swim suits for the honeymoon. Phillip found one and I found two – for great prices! Today I added to the honeymoon collection with a swim suit cover-up dress and shorts, and three sundresses. Today I also got a pair of shoes and four shirts for work to add to my pair of clearance pants I got at Banana Republic yesterday. Plus, we got a huge beach bag and some thank-you gifts for family. Great shopping!

Look who is in the newspaper today too! My dad was so wonderful in making this happen. Here’s a picture of the announcement, followed by a link to the newspaper website to read it. Yay!

Also, I’ve decided that I am going to apply to graduate school again. Last time they didn’t accept me, but maybe this time they will? I’m applying for a different program and writing a new statement of purpose. If they don’t accept me this time, I am going to meet with someone in admissions to see how I can get into the school. I am not giving up on getting my masters degree. I really want it – and possibly even my PhD one day. I’ll let you know how it goes when I know something.
