All I can say is, some significant changes might be on the horizon.
And for those of you wondering: No, I’m not pregnant; I don’t have cancer; I’m still graduating in December; Phillip and I are still getting married June 11th; and there should be nothing negative about possible changes.
Today I’m packing and running some last minute errands. I still need to go pick up Samantha and Gary’s wedding present, make a wine list card for their tables, and clean. I just finished packing my clothes and such, but still need my bathroom stuff, which will be packed tomorrow morning right before leaving. I also finished baking the cookies!
My homework that is due tomorrow night needs to be done and I have a study group at 7:00 tonight. Things are crazy, but at least they’re getting done. Leaving tomorrow right after my test (which is at 9:10).
Today was pretty great, despite the scary and rocky start this morning (Thanks, Mr. UT Gunman). Here are the great things that happened today:
1. I finally have decided what to get Samantha and Gary for their wedding present! Hooray! Tomorrow I will purchase it from the really weird lady I talked to today and tomorrow night I’ll wrap it. I love wrapping! Hopefully they’ll love it.
2. My 12:45 class got cancelled. This was an unexpected surprise, but was much welcomed. The class only meets once a week, but this freed up time to get some homework done before work.
3. I didn’t have to make cold calls to businesses asking for donations yesterday or today. This inevitably means I’ll have to tomorrow, but oh well. All I did at work today was put labels on suckers. It sounds miserable, but it was mindless and I got to chit chat with my boss the whole time.
4. The cop looked the other way. Yes. I was driving 10 mph over the speed limit. I hardly ever do this, but the speed limit had just changed and I wasn’t paying enough attention. I passed a cop. Crap. But then as I passed him, I saw him looking out his window at who-knows-what. Victory!
5. Quiznos is cancelling my favorite salad in the whole world – but College Station hasn’t yet. For those of you who follow my Twitter, I truly have a love/hate relationship with the nearby Quiznos. They usually forget my dressing or make my glorious salad and not tell me they’re out of the signature dressing until it’s time to pay. However, this time, they pulled through for me. My salad was completed perfectly with the dressing. It is no longer listed on the menu, but the College Station one obviously has the hookup.
6. My boss gave me Thursday off! Thursdays are my longest days at work (11:30-5:00). This Thursday I have a test at 9:10, that I will most likely finish before 10:00 since I’m such a fast test-taker. I was going to have to kill time for an hour and a half before working a long day and finally hitting the road at 5:00. But, now that I have the day off, I will most likely be leaving College Station by 10:30, to arrive in HEB at approximately 1:30pm. Yay!
So you see, my day has been quite wonderful. I still have a bunch of stuff to do before going home Thursday, but my list is growing shorter as I get things done. All I have to do tonight is design a wine list card for the wedding, finish up homework, go to a meeting, make the rest of the cookies for this weekend, and hopefully watch some TV. The wedding is coming up so soon!! 4 more days!
Today has been another relaxing and pretty fun day. I woke up and drank my cup of coffee before getting ready for the day. Then people came over for the cowboy game – I cooked appetizers for everyone! I’ve been kind of sitting around watching the Cowboy game ever since then.
Once this game is over, my parents and I are venturing out to the winery where Samantha’s wedding will be Saturday. We need to do some measurements and look around one last time to get things all worked out. Did I mention how much I’m looking forward to this weekend still? Yay!
After all of that is done, I’ll get back on the road back to College Station – wonderfully delicious pumpkin spice latte in hand. I’m ready to get things done this week so i can come back for a homework-free weekend. I need to also find shoes to wear in the wedding, and a wedding present for my big sis.
Lots to do and so little time!
Exactly one week from today is my big sister’s wedding day. I am so excited for her and can’t wait to see her in the most beautiful and perfect wedding dress for her. It’ll be fun to spend time with family and see my sister the happiest she’s ever been.
She sure does deserve this. She’s been waiting her whole life for prince charming – and 14 years for a good father for Jeremy. Now she finally has both! We love him and can’t wait for him and his family to be a part of ours. Did I mention that this all happens in one week!?
There’s still so much to be done! Today I’m getting my bangs trimmed and nails done; my dad’s getting a hair cut; my mom’s looking for last-minute decoration needs; and we’re all just bracing ourselves for the crazy week ahead.
My parents are wonderful. They are doing so much to make sure this day is the best for Samantha. Dad is power washing the whole exterior of the house once it stops pouring outside and getting the carpets cleaned this week. Mom is getting the maid to come (best idea ever!), washing about a million loads of bedding and towels, getting food ready for all of these guests, and becoming the queen of candles and decor. Both are also getting the front courtyard complete and ready to present.
Who would have thought there was so much to do with this house when the wedding isn’t even here?? It’s going to be the center point and main hub for everything before and after the big day – almost like an open house.
This week I need to find shoes to walk down the aisle with and get the perfect wedding present. I have some ideas, but it’s about time to make a decision. Plus I have a test and part of a paper due, and will be making the trip back up here on Thursday. Crazy week ahead!!
I am so happy for my sister. I love you Samantha Dianne Galloway and can’t wait to watch you become Samantha Dianne Wiatrek with two ‘bonus’ children and a loving husband for the rest of your life.
So I’m sitting at Muldoon’s sipping on my weekly coffee. Did I mention that I love this place? I really feel like I need to tell them I have a twin that lives here so they can attribute my unhealthy habit to that. I’m about to become a “regular” with a “usual” and a coupon every time. I also know their work schedules and the other employee that comes in the same time each Friday with his girlfriend to partake in whatever off-the-clock specials they get. Yeah. It’s getting that bad.
So anyway… I’m sitting here on this very comfy couch listening in on the girls near me. It’s not a crime. It’s actually kind of their fault for talking so loud within earshot of me. I like to think they want me to listen to them. Yeah. That’s it.
One of the girls was talking about her mom, who had pancreatic cancer. She was told she had a few months to live – but lived nine more years and even entered remission. It then came back and she was given a month to live – and lived another year before passing away. During the times where she was under the impression she didn’t have much time left with her daughter, this woman taught this girl everything she knew. She taught her how to cook and made her cook dinners. She even purposely didn’t pick her up from school (and didn’t tell her about it) just so the girl would figure it out on her own. Wow. What a mom!
But that’s not the part that gets me the most. The best part of this entire story is the letters her mom left behind for her. Her mom wrote her daughter a letter for every single milestone – from 16th birthday to high school graduation to first major break-up to wedding day and birth of her first child. Incredible!! She even already picked out a wedding present and wrote letters to this girl’s future husband and children. Wow. Wow. Wow.
I’d like to think that if I were ever unfortunate enough to find myself in the position of having a certain time left to live, I would do the same sort of things. What a lucky girl, to have a mom that cared so much and loved so much to be so productive in her final time here. So incredible.
Yes, you read right. I am, in fact, going home yet again tomorrow. I know you’re wondering how I went from bumming out and not going anywhere to going home… Well, some things changed. My car needs some work on it now that there’s a slow leak in the radiator. It’s better to get it check this weekend before the craziness of next weekend takes over. I also need a hair cut and to get my nails done.
I’m not stoked about driving so much over the next two weeks, but I guess you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do.
Tonight, Phillip booked our honeymoon! It’s official! We are headed to the Caribbean for a week-long cruise. It leaves from Galveston, so I don’t have to fly! I’m too excited!!! I can’t wait to have a relaxing week with my love and do all sorts of new and fun things. I only wish that everyone else could do the same thing!
Let’s get this party started! I might be looking forward more to a week with Phillip than to the wedding. Judge away, but I can’t wait!!

This weekend was one for the record books. It was so much fun! We did everything I wanted us to do and it was a success! I got my beautiful ring and got to spend so much quality time with both of my families. I’ll finish off with some pictures.
At 6:30pm I will receive my Aggie Ring. For those of you who do not know, this is a HUGE deal. I have been waiting for this moment ever since I accepted my admissions offer in October of 2006. This is a major event in every Aggie’s life and is second only to graduating during your time as a student.
Phillip came in last night and today Heather, Ryan, Phillip’s parents, and my parents will be joining us for the big event. I’ll have my mom present it to me while everyone takes pictures. I am too excited!! Afterwards we’ll go eat dinner at Shipwreck Grill in Bryan and hang out.
Tomorrow is lunch at Layne’s and dunking my ring at Messina Hoff winery. We’ll have finger food and wine tasting. When I find a wine I like the best, I’ll order a glass and dunk my ring in it. How classy and different! I couldn’t handle chugging a whole pitcher of beer – a whole pitcher of anything for that matter.
This weekend will be busy and fun. I probably won’t be blogging again until Sunday evening at the earliest. Have a good weekend everyone and next time I post, I’ll be wearing my new shiny gold ring!
That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, I have a throat infection (most likely strep). My throat started hurting pretty badly on Thursday and progressively has gotten worse instead of better. Luckily I now have a z-pack of antibiotics to knock this thing out by the weekend – which is right in time for my ring festivities. My throat is killing me but hopefully I’ll get through it quickly. Cross your fingers I won’t wake up in the middle of the night with it tonight!
Six years ago yesterday, Phillip asked me to be his girlfriend. I know, six years is a really long time. It hardly seems like it’s been that long – hopefully a glimpse at how happy our future will be. I remember him asking me via AOL instant messenger (lame I know, but keep in mind we were shy and sixteen).
The length of our relationship always brings up questions and remarks about how we couldn’t possible know what love was back then. To that I say a firm no. We knew exactly how much love we had for each other. Maybe it hadn’t been “scaled” yet against the test of time and how much we love each other now – but we have been in love for nearly the full six years.
I remember the day I fell in love with him. We were at Christine’s house watching a movie on her big bean bag chair. We were just holding hands and I suddenly felt love for him. I knew right then and there this was something special and that I loved him.
I think the best way to describe how we felt about each other compared to how we feel about each other now is as follows: I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him at the age of seventeen; but I didn’t know I could spend the rest of my life with him until college.
Tonight marks the one year anniversary for being engaged. Yep, that’s right, it’s already been a whole year. Where did that time go?
I can remember that day/night like it just happened. I have never been that happy in my entire life. The words rang so true and the night was so love-filled. I can’t imagine another night coming close to touching that one – with the exception of our wedding night, of course.
My life was changed. My life is changed. My life will change.
Thank you, Phillip, for going from the best boyfriend in the entire world to an even better fiancé. I love you so much.
This morning I took the TEAS test for my TCC nursing school application process. I did so well!! I did at or better than 94% of test-takers nationwide (99% for the math section)!! If they don’t accept me now, I’ll know something’s up.
I’m still impatiently waiting to hear back from UNT HSC. I just want to know at this point. I’ll be super excited beyond belief if I get in but super bummed if I don’t get in. I’m starting to have dreams about it. Let me know!!!!!
I’m ready to have a narrowed vision of the future. It’s all coming so fast and I’m ready for big decisions to be made. Nursing school? Grad school? Work? Apartment? Rental house? Townhome? And don’t get me started with wedding plans and beyond wedding plans. Things are getting crazy and I’m wanting more and more big decisions to be made. This was I can start developing and tweaking “the plan.”
Yes…. I am aware that I have a lot of “odes” but some things in life deserve them. :)
I’m sitting in my newfound coffee shop love. This place has been around for probably a year or two now, but I finally ventured in a couple of weeks ago to meet my friend Susan for coffee. I am in love. The entire place is decorated so nicely and has so many comfortable chairs and furniture. There are few “normal” industrial-like chairs. Instead, the place is covered in oversized leather and suede couches, loveseats, and chairs. So comfy! Plus, they bring your coffee/food out to you instead of you having to go pick it up at the bar. Lovely. Right now there is a 50% off coupon in the college coupon books (I may have picked up 5 today to get the coupons.) I’m sipping on my iced latte and just finished my sesame bagel with cream cheese. Whole meal = under $4!!
Life right now is great. I’m loving everything. I’m still waiting on the decision for grad school to be trickled down to me and I have a test to take tomorrow morning. However, those are the worst things in my life at the moment – and that says something. I get my ring in one week. WHOOP! We find out our wedding date really soon. Samantha’s wedding is coming up. I turn 22 soon. And so so soooo much more.
Also, I forgot to mention that BABY REGALADO IS A GIRL! I’m so ready to get out there and buy the cutest baby clothes in the entire world. My mom already has bought stuff for her. That baby will be spoiled by my family, especially since my mom has been wanting someone to have a baby girl.
I’m so excited for all of my friends and all of my family members. Oh and about Muldoons.
Heading north at 12:30 today!
This is what greeted me after my first class this morning. Tropical Storm Hermine (pronounced her-mean and not her-mine-ie) made landfall in Texas, with San Antonio and Austin in its direct path. That meant Bryan College Station got the “northeast quadrant” meaning tons of rain and the severe stuff.
After class, my project group met with the professor to discuss our presentation outline. I then proceeded to walk in the torrential downpour to my car. When I was just about there, I walked in Rudder Tower (a substantial and important administrative building on campus – it’s where our visitor center and performance theatre is) as I usually do since the added student center construction began a couple of years ago. Well, it just so happens that I decided to stop and catch up on my texts before continuing back outside to my car when I got the Code Maroon text message - “Tornado warning. Tornadic activity near College Station moving toward campus. Seek shelter immediately.”
Therefore, my plans changed to staying in the tower with every other student the University Police Department was able to wrangle into the building from walking by outside. Long story short, it was found that a tornado was on the ground headed towards us. Awesome. We then were moved into a hallway, and the rest of the campus was going through similar procedures in their respective buildings. Kind of like lockdown mode.
Once it all subsided, I was able to continue back to my car and ultimately my apartment. However, it was a scary adventure I certainly wouldn’t want to repeat. I mean, there have been tornados in my life, but none in which a red target sign was basically drawn on the building I was in.
I must also point out that the area in College Station where this said tornado touched down was at the intersection my apartment is located at… Good thing I wasn’t there or I would have had a serious panic attack and hidden in the bathtub with all of my belongings. I would probably still be there right now if that was the case. I do not do tornados. No sir.
That’s right blogging world, I had school and work today while everyone else was enjoying their day off. In fact, I have been going nonstop since I woke up at 7:45 this morning. I’m just now relaxing. I went to class and work, then grocery shopping, cooking, and a project presentation meeting at 8 before heading to Grace’s for a bit. And now I’m here.
The presentation is this Thursday and it has to be 45 minutes long. That’s insanely long. Plus, we’ve volunteered to go first so there have been no examples for us to observe. Hopefully she’ll give us extra points for going first. It’s over agenda-setting in the media, specifically concerning health topics. For example, news coverage of AIDS increased when scientists were releasing information about its transmission in the 1980s. However, the media quickly lost interest for years. But every time someone comes out with new information or someone famous is diagnosed with HIV, reports surface. It’s kind of interesting. “The media doesn’t tell us what to think – but tells us what to think about.”
I also need to study for my entrance exam that’s Saturday morning. I don’t think it’s supposed to be too difficult, but I know there will be questions over basic stuff I haven’t looked at since high school. I’ll let you know how all of that goes.
Every time I go home, I neglect this blog. I am terribly sorry! I just get so busy and am hardly at a computer. But no worries, blogging will not stop once I move back for good.
This weekend was a lot of fun. Last night was Samantha’s bachelorette party – success. We went to dinner at Razzoos downtown, then went to The Library and then Pete’s Piano Bar afterwards. It was fun and Samantha enjoyed herself.
Tonight I’m just kind of hanging around the apartment and taking it easy. I’ve been messing around with my iPhone! Yep! I got one! Well, more like Phillip got the new one and I got his old one, but still! I have internet on my phone now!
I have so much going on that it’s hard to stay on the ground! There’s so many exciting things that are making life ever so enjoyable. I am loving every single moment of this and am soaking it all in. Yay life! Thank you God for blessing me so much!
