Coming and Going; Going and Coming

Our house hunt has become quite frustrating. We have finally decided on an area - north of the metroplex in Corinth/Flower Mound/Little Elm/Frisco/McKinney. But now the real hunt begins.

We have found so many adorable and affordable houses to rent. But they're all leased before we can even view the property. So basically we're having to hunt every second of every day and be available within a moment's notice to go look at and be able to put a deposit down as soon as we see it. How overwhelming.

Oh Hello Strangers

This has been a busy and exhausting couple of weeks. Heather said I fell off the face of the earth for a while, and to be honest, it has kind of felt that way. I haven't seen much of anyone - except Phillip when it's been time to come home and sleep. It has been very busy to say the least.

Spring screenings are nearing completion. This afternoon is my last one and tomorrow is our company's last one - until this summer. Then we start all over again. But I'm kind of liking this ebb and flow we have going on with work. It keeps things exciting and prevents monotony.

Heather is all moved home and graduated. This past weekend we celebrated and moved her. It was a great weekend and I needed the family time. We got Alyse graduated the weekend before too! Lots of exciting and trying times ahead for my friends/family. It's about time they all caught up to my "real world" problems. ;)

We are still not much closer to finding a permanent place to live. Each week I claim to have a good feeling about getting so many questions answered. And each week, it ends with no news from anyone. We get a good "lead" and then it fizzles. I just wished we had some answers. DFW is too big to make a moving decision without concrete certainties. We need certainties!

Last night we booked the hotel room for our first anniversary. I can't believe, in three weeks, we will be celebrating being married for a year. Can you believe it!? Expect a great one year post on/around that wonderful June 11th we all loved so much. We will be staying close to home for one night at the Stoneleigh hotel in Dallas. It is the hotel we took our engagement pictures at and is a beautifully restored and renovated historic high rise hotel. I can't wait. We'll get to enjoy our cake with our serving set and champagne flutes, along with the bottle of wine from the Harkins we got last year. So exciting.

One of the reason we're not doing as grand of a celebration of our first year as originally planned is because we're saving that for Cabo. That'll be our big trip, just three weeks later. That's right. I pretty much plan to celebrate our anniversary for an entire month. I mean, it's fitting since we spent just about an entire month celebrating our wedding day.

So many exciting things coming up and so little time to cram in blogging and work. I will try though. However, work DOES take precedence over blogging. A sad truth. I'll keep in touch as best as I can.

Ode to Xanax

Today is my last day of marathon screening. This afternoon, I finish up with Lubbock ISD and board a plane to go back home for a while. Hopefully we'll even be able to make an earlier flight. That would certainly be nice.

My plane anxiety meds are definitely helping me through this trip. Yesterday morning's flight was actually much better. I could really tell a difference. I was still nervous, but not scared. And my heart rate didn't speed up as fast. I'm liking the extra help from a prescription.

Next week will be a really big test. I take my first flight by myself. It's only to/from Houston (an hour flight), but it'll still be rough. No one to hold my hand. :( But, alas, I am growing up and need to face the facts sooner or later. Luckily I have meds to help.

Lubbock, Texas, USA

For a couple days, I'm in Lubbock for work. Phillip came with me. We're just kind of hanging out in the hotel room like loser anti-tourists. But we're both exhausted. I screened last night until 9:30. We woke up at 4:30 this morning to catch a flight and as soon as we landed, I screened kids for 7 hours. Doesn't that sound tiring?

Basically tonight is going to consist of eating dinner in the hotel room, watching some tv, and calling it a really early night. Not too shabby though, considering they have Fazolis here (hooray!) and they upgraded my room to a suite with a living room for FREE. Basically, their rewards program is incredible. Incredible. I also got a cookie, bottle of water, and coupon for a free bar drink from downstairs. Fancy, huh? Makes traveling for work not so bad.

So tomorrow I screen another full day, then we hop on a flight back home to turn around Saturday morning to head to Alyse's graduation. Don't we sounds like world state travelers?

Finally All Moved

We have finally finished moving. Around lunch time we will go turn in our keys and officially vacate the apartment. It's so empty feeling and looks like when we moved in. It's sad to leave and it brings back so many memories.

It's where my bachelorette party was held. Where Phillip carried me over the threshold. Where we got to use our new wedding gifts for the first time. Where we raised our first puppy. Where I started my first big job. Where Phillip came home from graduation to. All of our first holidays - the first Christmas tree.

Time to move on I suppose. For now we are living with Phillip's parents. We haven't quite figured out our living situation just yet so we will wait here in limbo. Living in their guest rooms with all of our belongings in two storage units and spilling over into their living room. They have been so great for allowing us to literally move into their lives.

So now we wait. More waiting.

When Life Gives You a Monkey Wrench...

... you build a new plan?? I don't know. That sounded better in my head.

Yesterday was productive. We packed up a whole bunch of stuff. Our living room is filled with boxes now. Phillip had another job interview. And the house we were really interested in leasing is no longer available. Blegh.

Back to square one with house hunting. Need I remind you we only have one more week left of our apartment lease? It's crunch time. And there is nothing we can do about it.

Basically, readers, what I've been holding out on you about is Phillip's job situation. He has been applying and interviewing at various locations. He found a couple of jobs he was really interested in before he even was offered the FC Dallas job. And they decided to give him interviews. And now we're really hoping for him to get one or both of them.

That's why we're in limbo. We have to wait to hear if he's staying with FC Dallas (we would move to Frisco), getting one of the jobs (moving to Fort Worth), or going with the third option (moving to north or east Dallas). Um, can we say overwhelming?

Hopefully today we will finally hear at least SOMETHING.

This waiting around thing is getting kind of frustrating. And by kind of, I mean really frustrating.
