Happy Independence Day

First of all, if you subtract the time from the last entry, you know that I got entirely too little sleep last night. This holds even more true when you find out that I stayed up an extra hour on top of that. This brings the grand total to just under 7 hours of sleep. And I actually feel well-rested. I guess it’s the routine I’ve gotten into down at school. I find it difficult to sleep in anymore.

So today is a very important day for our country. I love this day because everyone gets so patriotic. Plus, I find it really amusing that pretty much the entire country does the exact same thing to celebrate the 4th – we eat bbq and watch fireworks. I mean, I know other holidays we all do the same thing (like Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving). However, I’m pretty sure this is the only holiday in which we all eat the exact same food and traditions don’t vary too much.

Happy 4th of July! I hope all of you have as much fun as I will be having between two wonderful families. :)

Late

I know it’s super late – I’m impressed I’ve made it this long too. Heather has decided to come home and left at 11:15 or so. She should be walking in the door any minute now but waiting up has been brutal.

Tonight Phillip and I joined his parents for the ranger game. We had the all-you-can-eat seats which was quite an experience! It was wonderful! We got all of the nachos, hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, and drinks we wanted for the whole evening. And to top it all off, these items were in a private buffet for anyone sitting in that section! It was delicious!!! I definite want to do that again sometime! [Plus, the rangers won!]

Being at our reception venue made it so hard for Phillip’s mom and me not to talk about wedding stuff – so we gave in and chatted throughout the evening. There’s so much to do and so much planning that can already start! Yay! I’m really getting excited now!

Birthdays and Engagements!

First of all, let me say how sorry I am that I did not update one bit yesterday. I was going nonstop from the second I woke up tot he second I finally went to sleep.

Yesterday was the wonderful Phillip's 22nd birthday. Doesn't that sound just so grown up? I thought so. We went to dinner with his parents at Billy Miner's (of course) and then drove around downtown fort worth a bit looking at all of the beautiful sights, and finished the night with milkshakes. I may have had more fun that the birthday boy himself!!

I'm so thankful to have him in my life and am so glad I have been able to celebrate so many birthdays with him (this was number five!!). I can't wait for the next birthday when I'll have to do something oh-so-wifey.

Last night was also a huge night for my big sis. She got engaged!! She will be getting married October 2nd of this year and I can't wait to gain a brother-in-law and a new niece and nephew. I'm so happy for my sister and am glad her life is finally falling into place. I just wonder now what she's going to do now that everything's easy!

P.S. I'm at Phillip's right now and his keyboard is terrible. I've always said this mainly because the keys are black, the board is black, and you can't see what in the world you are typing unless you shine a 1000 watt bulb on in. But today in particular it is difficult to type on. The keys are so spread apart and high so you miss keys all the time. This post has take twice the amount of time it should have. I apologize for any typos that have resulted.

Orange Juice and Toothpaste

So one of the background projects I have going at work is looking for interesting tips, facts, and articles about topics relevant to college health so they can be posted to our twitter and facebook feeds. Today I came accross an interesting article about - you guessed it - toothpast and orange juice.

It turns out there's a reason it tastes so badly. This article states the leading theory is the foaming action of toothpaste actually supresses your mout's ability to taste sweet things. Another scientist suggests it has to do with the chemical reaction between the sudsy paste and the citric acid.

Side note: the article also says it takes about an hour for the effects of the foaming toothpaste to wear off enough to taste sweet things. Very interesting.

Good Morning

I am going ton conquer the day today! I have a midterm this morning that I’m really not as prepared for as I’d like to be. However, it’s over sexuality so I should do okay seeing as how that’s what I’ve been focusing on at work.

I then have a peer-review session in class over my paper I wrote last night. I bet it’ll go well. I just need them to add some more “fluff” to my paper since I can’t seem to include anything but the brass tacks.

Work will be the usual combination of tasks here and there followed by some downtime to study for midterm number two which is tonight at 6pm. I’ll study away for that and maybe even have time to update this blog.

So today will be good. I love Thursdays. I always say that my Fridays start on Thursdays because Fridays you do your “last” everything, so Thursdays are prep days. Tomorrow I’m heading back home for the lovely Phillip’s 22nd birthday! More about that to come, I’m sure.
